Adobe Automatic Updates utilizing 100% of Firewall Bandwidth

How to kill the Adobe Updater application

I’ve experienced and currently still am a problem where Adobe Updater for Reader 8 utilizes and bottlenecks the External Internet interface of the Firewall. The result is all external traffic is extreme slow.

The Adobe Updater service runs in the task bar. You think that when opening the program and selecting canceling and disabling all current and future updates it will resolve the problem but unfortunately by doing this the problem does not go away and will happen again in the future. To eliminate the problem from ever happening again you need to delete to updater application.

Delete the Adobe Updater Application

    • Open the application from the task bar and cancel the update
    • Remove the folder C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeUpdater5
    • Remove the folder C:Documents and SettingsusernameMy DocumentsUpdater5 (Sometime this folder doesn’t exist if you catch the process early enough)
