Custom mobile apps take time

There was an article about Polar Mobile in the Globe and Mail yesterday. One quote that struck a chord with me was:

&#8220 Polar’s strategy is to use a software template into which a media organization can easily plug its content, such as news stories. Mr. Gupta said that while custom apps take up to 6 months, Polar Mobile’s “app factory” approach can launch an app in a matter of a few weeks, at a low cost. &#8221

I hope we can move to a place where we’re assembling apps from standard parts. We’ve got a “store locator” that we can reuse relatively easily, but we need more components like it. Of course, it would help if we could corner a market, as Polar have with media organizations.

Anyway, I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks custom mobile apps take time.

It's only fair to share...
