Being too impatient to wait for the list of plane departures from the Pearson international airport website to refresh I ended up at the following website:
At one level it is just another use of the Google map service. However those orange and blue markers are the positions of real planes. Wait a little and the markers will make a step; they are tracking the actual flight paths every 30s or so. So you can see the queue of planes coming down the Ottawa/Montreal corridor towards Toronto and the heavy traffic with New York. It also overlays data from weather radars. Come 6pm I’m assuming you should start seeing a wave of flights bound for Europe.
The current is definitely catching up with the 20th century’s futures.
