This solution as of now is necessary on every startup. If I find a permanent solution, I’ll update this post.
To install the necessary package, enable the universe repository.
- Click on Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal and type the following commands one at the time:(don’t paste my comments in the brackets)
sudo apt-get install bcm43xx-fwcutter (this installs the package for the broadcom 4311 card. You can omit this command on future sessions) sudo modprobe bcm43xx iwconfig ( this should show something other than "no wireless extensions" ) sudo iwlist eth1 scan (this seems to scan manually for wireless networks nearby)
After that, wireless networks will be available from the tray network icon in the top-right corner.
