Great googley moogley

In this Google blog post, Michael Krantz of the Google blog team writes about the use of the word “google” used as a verb meaning “search the internets”. It appears that while the Google devs and marketers embrace the use of Google like that, the lawyers foresee problems.

It’s in Google’s long-term interests to protect their trademark, but they also want to stay a household term. It’ll be interesting to see where they go with this – they may end up following the Xerox model, and slap anyone on the wrist that says “I googled it on Yahoo”.
