Software Construction

For my first Blog entry on the new i-Proving.ca site I thought I would go with something near and dear to my heart…the broken analogy between software development and building construction. Recently somebody at XPToronto had expressed interest in this topic, so I just happen to have a couple of links handy.

Martin Fowler’s classic The New Methodology paper goes into this topic in some detail. It just so happens that Martin’s wife is a Civil Engineer who builds bridges, so his opinions are backed with a certain amount of personal experience.

Mishkin Berteig’s posting on Kuro5hin is fascinating and goes into the topic in great detail.
